NRW Nano-Conference
North-Rhine Westphalia is one of the leading locations for nanotechnology in Germany and in the world. One significant factor is the strong scientific base to be found in this state. In order to consistently make the most of the chances this location offers to this future-oriented sector, the NRW State Government will be proactively supporting the worlds of science and business in extending their lead in nanotechnologies for the future.
That is why the City of Dortmund Economic Development Agency and the Ministry for Innovation are putting on the NRW Nano-Conference at the Westfalenhallen Congress Center in Dortmund on 18 and 19 February 2008. An exhibition is also taking place to accompany the conference. The MST.factory dortmund and IVAM, the specialist association for microtechnology, are also partnering the conference.
As part of the conference the Minister for Innovation Professor Pinkwart will be presenting the State Government’s strategy for nanotechnologies. The main focus is on improving the way results from research can be implemented commercially. Because only when science and business combine their strengths is it possible to succeed in integrating the great potential of nanotechnologies optimally in the value added chain of user sectors.
Another focal point of the conference is the specialist presentations on a range of nanotechnology fields with an emphasis on the topics of nanoelectronics, nanoanalytics, nanophotonics and nanomaterials.
The specialist presentations at the conference will be complemented by reports on real cases which demonstrate successful technology transfer. On the second day of the conference specialist workshops will look at individual topics more closely. They will also reveal where there is potential for interdisciplinary cooperation and where there are opportunities for practical commercial implementation.
