Operating instructions
While creating this website, we placed great importance on providing all visitors to the site with the best possible access to all the information on the site.
At the same time, we did not wish to ignore the wide variety of possibilities offered by graphics and animation. The website is therefore available in two formats with exactly the same content. They only differ in the way they are presented. Please find some details about the two versions and the technologies that they are based on in the following.
Graphic version and text version
The graphic version has additional images, graphics and animations to support the texts and tables. This version can be viewed with the standard graphic browsers. There is a link on each page to the text version which has identical contents.
The text version also includes all the website’s functions, including navigation, use of forms and other services. Information which is presented in the graphic version as animations is then provided in text format. The text version is particularly suitable for users of screen-readers and similar technologies.
It is also useful for fast surfing with slow internet connections, for example via laptop or cell phone. Users of such technologies do not have to do without the images: the text version includes captioned links in place of the images. The link then opens a new window displaying the image.
Technical implementation
Both versions are based on the same XHTML code. The different views are achieved with cascading stylesheets (CSS). This enables identical contents to be displayed in different ways. This means it is possible to use presentation technology such as flash without excluding any user groups from information of services.
