Research and Development
Research and development play an important role in fields of technology like microtechnology which are dependent on the latest scientific and technological expertise. Universities, research institutes and companies are of special significance due to their research activities and in particular their cooperation efforts.
At the Technical University of Dortmund the “Micro and Nano Structure Research Association” has been formed with members from the faculties of electro- and information technology, mechanical engineering, chemistry and physics.
New research approaches can be tried and tested in the interdisciplinary projects by utilizing the common technical infrastructures. However, it also serves as a contact partner for industry and associations that are interested in cooperations. Dedicated lectures in the field of micro- and nano-structural technology round off the complete package offered by this research association.
The Technical University of Dortmund also runs the “microtechnology” course and has a wide range of research and courses on offer through its chair for intelligent microsystems and the fields of microelectronics and microstructure technology. There are also major courses in microstructure technology at the University of Applied Science Dortmund.
With the biggest IT faculty in Germany, the Technical University of Dortmund also possesses an inexhaustible reservoir of well-educated research personnel. The Informatics Center Dortmund also acts as an interface to companies, and is available as a partner for application-oriented research and development and, like many companies in the field of micro technology, is based in the Technologypark Dortmund.
