Microfluidics
Microfluidics is the application of fluid technology in micro dimensions. Fluid technology generates movement and energy in almost any form and size simply, without risk and in an environmentally friendly manner.
The applications range from microdosing systems for medical agents to complete miniaturized analysis systems e.g. for environmental measurement technology. Fluids and gases are guided into micro-channels, dosed by micro-valves and measured according to their flow rate and other chemical and physical properties. They are also transported by micropumps or capillary forces. The small dimensions mean that the relative influence of surface and boundary layer effects are increased. New physical/chemical effects can also occur.

Respimat
The Respimat® Soft Inhaler combines innovative technology with ease of use. This nebulizer device is a new generation of inhalers which, in contrast to previous metered dose aerosols, can do without propellant gases.
The basic principle of this device is to force a metered dose of a medical solution by means of high pressure through a valve which consists of two exit holes with a diameter of around 8 µm. This forms two fine streams of fluid which impact on each other generating a slowly moving cloud of spray from the mouthpiece.
