Microsensoric

Produktion der Wafer

Sensor technology is concerned with the sub-field of measurement technology which includes the use of sensors. For example, a sensor enables robots or automatic tooling machines to carry out scanning or recognition functions. Sensors and sensor systems thus form the basis for a multitude of automation, controlling and diagnosis tasks in industry, medicine, building construction and environmental fields.

When talking about sensors in living beings we mean the organs of the senses such as eyes as optical, and ears as acoustic sensors, a robot’s sensors could thus consist of a camera, distance sensor initiator, microphone, infrared detector and speed-measurement.

Microtechnology already enables existing sensor systems to be miniaturized, but it is also possible to develop new kinds of sensor systems based on new physical, chemical or biological effects.

Optical Lane Assistant

The optical lane recognition system from ELMOS AG recognizes when a vehicle is leaving its lane unintentionally, e.g. when the driver falls asleep or is distracted. It then alerts the driver by vibrating the seat.

Measurement is carried out unaffected by any environmental influences such as strong sunlight or snow on the road. Infrared scanning of the road surface enables this.
